​Claudia Romeu, MPH

Claudia holds Bachelor’s in Social Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Master’s in Public Health in maternal and child health from the University of California at Berkeley. Before starting her graduate studies, the native Puerto Rican spent four years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Peru where she focused on rural technologies, teenage pregnancy prevention, and youth leadership.  She joined the Rise Up team in the summer of 2013 as an intern, and currently serves as Program Coordinator and Grants Manager. In her role, Claudia provides grantee support and coordination across Rise Up programs. She participates in recruitment and selection of fellows, planning and implementation of trainings and programs, provision of technical assistance, and manages the monitoring and evaluation of all seed-grants.  Among her professional interests are adolescent pregnancy prevention, peer education, and access to reproductive services. She also has a passion for filmmaking, and using audiovisual material to generate discussions.
