Rise Up Stands in Solidarity Against Racism and Police Brutality

By the Rise Up Team | June 4, 2020

Rise Up stands in solidarity with Black communities in demanding justice for the brutal murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, and for all those who have suffered and died at the hands of white supremacy. Rise Up’s mission of activating girls, youth, and women to create a more just and equitable world cannot be achieved without bringing an end to police brutality and the racism and patriarchy used to perpetuate systemic injustice.

Rise Up also recognizes that deeply entrenched racism and structural inequities have contributed to the disproportionate impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Black and Brown communities in the U.S. and around the world. We share the collective grief and outrage against these injustices. We commit to amplifying the courage and resilience of local leaders as they demand justice for their communities. We will support Rise Up Leaders and grantees to raise their voices to respond to the complex challenges of this moment, and to advocate for the long-term systemic changes needed to ensure equity for marginalized girls, youth, and women everywhere.
