Chief Operating Officer, 21st Century Community Empowerment for Youth and Women Initiative
Adekunle Lukman Adefolahan is a human rights activist and campaigner, a development consultant, a gender analyst and advocate and community development consultant and mobilizer. Lukman has worked in the area of poverty alleviation, micro-credit scheme, NGO capacity building, human rights, environmental/community health, and gender for over a decade in various organizations.
To show that he is committed to fighting poverty, he has been involved in working with semi-urban and rural dwellers in poverty alleviation programs and has used rural participatory appraisal methodology in various states in Nigeria. He has organized men and women into co-operative groups whereby they could pool their resources together for poverty alleviation and the benefit of the community.
Lukman has been involved in effecting legislation and policy change focusing on child rights, female genital mutilation, migrants and internally displaced persons’ rights, gender-sensitive budgeting, and school/community health campaigns.
