Amita Dharmaji Jadhav

Manas Foundation

For more than a decade, Amita has directly engaged with tribal women on economic empowerment and participation in decision making in local self-governance on issues including reproductive health and nutrition, violence against women and girls, and property rights. She is generating awareness, building leadership, and organizing women around their rights to property. Amita has played an active role in initiating a campaign around property rights for women in the Konkan region of Maharashtra.

Participation in the Leadership and Advocacy Accelerator has helped her solidify her idea of creating a network of women organizations for collective advocacy on the issues of marriage registration, joint house titles, and maternal property rights of women. Amita strongly believes that access to property and other resources will enable women increase their power in decision making and that strengthening grassroots organizations is key to sustainable change. Amita holds a master’s degree in social work and a bachelor’s degree in law.
