Amrita Thakur has been a journalist and an advocate for women’s issues for 15 years, working for many prestigious Hindi newspapers and magazines, as well as organizations like Jagori and Stree Mukti Sanghatana. In 2019, Amrita left journalism to focus full time on advocacy for women’s issues with Jagori where she now leads the Community Feminist Leadership Project. Amrita has postgraduate degrees in Hindi and journalism and is currently pursuing a third postgraduate degree in gender and development studies.
