This June marked Rise Up’s sixth Leadership Accelerator training program in India. A group of 25 new and visionary leaders in Jharkhand, India joined our growing network of more than 140 leaders across the country. Jharkhand leaders are from the communities they serve and understand from their personal experience the challenges that marginalized populations face in the region. The new India leaders were active and engaged in the intensive training program and reflected on their learnings and their journey with Rise Up going forward.
Souvik Saha, Founder, People for Change
“The Rise Up Leadership Accelerator program has been a literal eye-opener for me. Until now, I thought advocacy was always personality driven. This program turned my thinking on its head to see how advocacy is an art and can be learned. This workshop shifted my perspective from seeing advocacy as person-led to process-led.”
Shubha Philomina Tirkey, Treasurer and Community Mobilizer, Association for Social and Human Awareness (ASHA)
“The Accelerator helped to build a more transparent understanding towards the advocacy process and the importance of building self-leadership. I will keep upgrading my leadership qualities through working on my individual leadership plan.”
Debashree Mishra, Program Manager, Kalamandir, The Celluloid Chapter Art Foundation
“I have learned so much that I was not aware of – from understanding the intersections of marginalizations, distinguishing advocacy from related strategies to meticulously following each step of advocacy planning, every aspect has been deeply meaningful. Thank you Rise Up for giving me this opportunity!”
