Khadija Abdulkarim
Population and Reproductive Health Initiative
Khadija is the Deputy Team lead for the Population and Reproductive Health Initiative’s (PRHI) Girls’ Education Program in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria, where she coordinates programs and strategies for community engagement, monitors and supports the GCE staff, supervises and manages program databases, and trains mentors and adolescent girls to become role models in their communities. She is passionate about the rights of women and girls and enabling them to reach their potential and live the lives that they desire. She has witnessed women and girls in northern Nigeria being deprived of their rights to quality education and opportunities because of cultural and traditional perceptions of women’s and girls’ roles in the community, religious affiliation, age, and poverty. Her dream is to see all women and girls live their lives to the fullest without discrimination.
