
Founder/CEO, Women Against Violence and Expediency Handling Initiative
Lara Rowland is the Founder of Women Against Violence and Expediency Handling Initiative (WAVEHI), a nonprofit dedicated to women’s empowerment and gender equality. She holds a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Ibadan and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Lagos.
Lara leads the strategic direction of WAVEHI, fostering partnerships and designing programs that empower women through education, skills training, and entrepreneurship. She is a passionate advocate for sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence prevention, and the rights of female adolescents and youth. Her work leverages technology, advocacy, and capacity-building to dismantle systemic barriers, create safe spaces, and expand opportunities for women, girls, and gender-nonconforming individuals. Lara has been recognized as an exemplary youth leader and community hero for her contributions to advancing social justice.
