Lusanda Sikhakhane

Director, The Lusanda Sikhakhane Foundation

Lusanda Sikhakhane is a fierce Law student, human rights defender and social entrepreneur who believes that justice should not be a privilege, it should be a right for all survivors of gender-based violence. As the Founder and Director of The Lusanda Sikhakhane Foundation, he has dedicated his work to supporting young girls, women, and the underrepresented by ensuring access to legal advocacy, mental health support, education, and leadership opportunities.

Growing up in a community where gender-based violence was normalized, and survivors were silenced, Lusanda knew he had to be the voice that demands change. He is currently pursuing a law degree in human rights, with the mission to become an attorney who fights relentlessly for justice, dismantles systemic barriers, and ensures that no survivor, especially young girls, is left unheard or unprotected. Through The Lusanda Sikhakhane Foundation, Lusanda has spearheaded education initiatives, policy advocacy, and community empowerment programs, including securing 30 bursaries for young women with special needs to access higher education, because no girl should be left behind. His work has been recognized globally, earning him awards such as the Global Recognition Award, the 100 South African Shining Stars Award, and fellowships with YALI, Mercedes-Benz, and Aspire Leadership (Harvard Business School).
