Sushmita has more than 20 years of experience working in the development sector, primarily focused on promoting gender equality and empowering adolescent and youth populations. She has worked with various national and international organizations like CARE, CISSD, Restless Development, ICRW, Apne Aap Women Worldwide, and Action India. At PCI, she is developing initiatives to stop child marriage in Jharkhand by working with mothers of adolescent girls to encourage their children to fulfill their aspirations for their own lives. Having witnessed the shifting challenges to achieving gender equality in society over the last two decades, Sushmita is interested in trying different models to empower women and girls to reject restrictive gender norms and envision better lives for themselves.
