Tawina is the Chief Irrigation Officer for the Malawi Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development where she heads the Kasungu Irrigation Services Division.
Her areas of interest and focus include girls’ advocacy and research from a gender and rights perspective. She volunteers at the Sub-Saharan Child and Community Development, the Child Development Support Organization, and YES Malawi. Tawina holds a Bachelor in Agriculture from the University of Malawi – Bunda College of Agriculture and a Master of Science degree in Management of Natural Resources and Sustainable Agriculture from the University of Life Sciences in Norway.
