Thulile Mthethwa is a software engineer turned social innovator and gender-based violence activist. After surviving multiple incidents of crime, she left her corporate career to develop South Africa’s first public alarm system – now registered as an official innovation. As Founder of MeMeZa Shout Crime Prevention, she champions grassroots safety solutions that protect GBV survivors and marginalized communities. Thuli advocates for proactive policing models and mentors young innovators through The Innovation Hub. She has served on the National Advisory Council on Innovation and was honored with a Humanitarian Doctorate and a United Nations Global Award (2025) for her work advancing safety, justice, and equity.
