Co-Founder, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Lactation Collaborative

Tonya is an advocate for lactation and health equity for AANHPI families. She co-founded the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Lactation Collaborative. She is passionate about the rights of AANHPI families to receive culturally congruent lactation information and support so they may reach their breast/chestfeeding and human milk feeding goals. Tonya received her Master’s degree in Public Health in Health Promotion/Disease Prevention from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University. She is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and a Certified Health Education Specialist. Her work to improve equity in the US breastfeeding landscape has been recognized by the California Breastfeeding Coalition, the United States Breastfeeding Committee, and the United States Lactation Consultant Association.
